“BUT FIRST, YOU…”
We always hear people talk about broadening our network, relationships, but never enough about the most important relationship in our lives – the one with ourselves.
This time last year was one of the lowest points of my life…I was so lost. Within myself, my career path, and in my relationships… I needed to take the time to REALLY focus on finding a way to feel happy + purposeful about life.
And if I’m being very honest with you, I deprived myself of doing this for too long. I was so caught up in my relationships with work, money, and boys… So for the past year, I’ve worked hard on the most significant relationship, the one I have with myself.
And as a newly single woman and taking an entrepreneur career path as my full-time gig – the timing couldn’t have been more perfect! Life has a really funny way of timing things and it’s never too early nor late to learn about having a relationship where can i buy herbal viagra with the person who will always be there – YOU. So for today’s blog post, I wanted to share a few tips I’ve learned throughout the past year along with ways to give yourself some extra shine.
Speaking of shine…
I’ve been obsessed with Lightbox Jewelry and their lab-grown stones. If you’re new to the idea of lab-grown diamonds they’re just as beautiful as real diamonds. Since lab-grown diamonds are not as rare, they are much lighter on the pocket with stones starting at only $200. Yep, you heard right… With such affordable pricing for diamonds, how could you not want to gift someone special and of course – YOUrself with a new shiny rock? Their stones would make a perfect gift and don’t forget – diamonds are a girl’s best friend 😉
For my blog look today, I styled a few of my favourite pieces from Lightbox’s recent collection. I’m wearing their Blue Solitaire Studs and my personal favourite the Wing Pendant Diamond Necklace. I think they’re the perfect everyday shine to add a little dazzle to any outfit. And in my case, they’re a little personal reminder of the growth I’ve had in the past year.
My 3 helpful tips on how to have a better relationship with yourself…
Stop Seeking Validation.
“When you have a strong relationship with yourself, you don’t need validation for your actions, the way you look, or where you are in life.” For so long, I’ve set my mind on proving, impressing, and validating myself to everyone.
We live in an era where everything appears picture perfect – TOO “PERFECT”. We then start to compare, obsess, and nitpick ourselves and how our lives are. These are all forms of unnecessary validation… Refocus on your efforts on building a strong foundation of yourself and there won’t be a need for “validation”. & remember…“Stop seeking validation from people who aren’t even valid”.
Put Yourself First.
It’s okay to be selfish, say no, walk away, to want better for yourself… Putting my mental, physical, and emotional health first was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Never neglect your needs and listen to your mind/body/heart and do what it’s telling you. It also involves other factors like putting an end to toxic and/or unhealthy relationships and closing your circle to those who don’t appreciate you. “Don’t settle to be somewhere you’re tolerated, go to where you’re celebrated.” Remember, you can’t please everyone Spend more time alone, patch up relationships with your parents, eat better, eat well. Enjoy yourself and don’t wait until things are perfect in order to do so.
Be Kind To Yourself.
Work toward appraising yourself without destructively aggressive criticism or blame. People are often blame-dependent regarding self-appraisal and self-correction, and more often then not, excessive blaming leads to less effective change. To the extent it is unavoidable, accept blaming — but work toward being kind and gentle, while also being candid and taking responsibility. Compliment yourself, be your best friend that you need to keep you going. Learn to give yourself the kindness and love you want from others.
